Landing Page Checklist: 15 Fixes That Turn More Visitors Into Leads

A landing page has one job: to turn a visitor into an enquiry, a booking or a sale. Many pages fail because they try to do too much, load slowly or leave people unsure what to do next. Use this checklist to find quick wins.

The 15-point checklist

Clarity

  1. One goal per page. Choose a single action, such as "Book a free consultation". Remove links that lead away.
  2. A headline that matches the ad or post. If your ad promises "Odoo for manufacturers", the page should say so immediately.
  3. A clear sub-headline that explains what you offer, for whom and the main benefit.
  4. A visible call to action above the fold, in a contrasting colour with action wording.

Trust 5. Social proof: client logos, testimonials with names and photos, ratings and short case studies. Use only real ones. 6. Specific proof, such as numbers and outcomes, rather than vague praise. 7. Credentials and guarantees where honest: certifications, years of experience, partnerships, refund or support terms. 8. Real people and visuals, not generic stock photos.

Content 9. Benefits before features. Explain what changes for the customer. 10. A short "how it works" with three or four steps. 11. Answers to common objections in an FAQ: price, timing, risk, support.

Form and action 12. A short form. Ask only what you need to follow up, usually name, phone or email and one qualifying question. Every extra field lowers completion. 13. Easy alternatives: a WhatsApp button, click-to-call and a booking link, since many Indian customers prefer chat.

Technical 14. Speed and mobile. Test on a mid-range phone over a slow connection. Compress images and remove unneeded scripts. 15. Tracking. Set up conversion tracking for form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks, and a thank-you page that confirms the next step.

Common mistakes

  • Sending ads to a generic homepage
  • Menus and footers full of distractions
  • Long forms
  • Walls of text
  • No privacy notice or consent checkbox where the law expects one
  • Promises you cannot keep

Testing improves results

Change one thing at a time, such as the headline, the button text or the form length, and measure the effect over enough visitors to be meaningful. Small improvements add up.

After the click

Reply fast. A lead contacted within minutes is far more likely to respond than one contacted the next day. Automate an instant confirmation by email or WhatsApp, and tell the person what happens next.

Quick self-audit

Show your page to someone for five seconds. Ask what you offer, who it is for and what to do next. If they hesitate, simplify.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a landing page form be?+

As short as you can make it while still allowing follow-up, usually name, phone or email and one qualifying question. Every extra field tends to lower completion.

Should a landing page have a navigation menu?+

Usually not. A focused page with one goal and few exit links keeps visitors on the path to your call to action.

What should I test first on a landing page?+

Start with the headline, the call to action wording and the form length, changing one at a time and measuring over enough visitors.
